Harnessing the power of the sun: G T Factors Goes Solar
At G T Factors, we are committed to a sustainable future, which is why we are excited to announce that our factory and warehouse in Eastbourne have gone solar! Since December 2022, we have been harnessing the power of the sun to meet our energy needs, reduce our carbon footprint, and contribute to a greener environment. Read on to learn more about our new solar installation and how it benefits both our company and the planet.
A Solar-Powered Transformation:
To kickstart our journey towards sustainability, we instructed Ohm Energy to install a total of 210 solar panels on the roofs of our factory and warehouse. These panels are capable of producing up to 84kWh of clean, renewable energy. This installation is a testament to our dedication to reduce our impact on the environment and embrace innovative solutions for a greener future. G T Factors were able to take advantage of the Government Low Carbon Across the South and East program (LoCASE) to obtain a grant for the solar panel installation.
Exceeding Expectations:
We are thrilled to share that our solar panels have been performing exceptionally well since they started running in December 2022. In fact, they produce more electricity than our facilities consume! This means that not only are we able to meet our energy requirements, but we also have the opportunity to give back to the grid, helping to support the local community and further our commitment to sustainability.
Environmental Impact:
By utilizing solar energy, we are significantly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and overall carbon footprint. This positive impact on the environment aligns with our company values and sets an example for other businesses to follow suit. In a world facing the consequences of climate change, we believe it is crucial for companies to actively seek ways to operate more sustainably and responsibly.
Economic Benefits:
In addition to the environmental benefits, our solar installation also brings economic advantages to G T Factors. By generating our own electricity, we are reducing our reliance on grid-supplied energy and protecting ourselves from fluctuating energy prices. This allows us to better manage our operational costs, invest in the growth of our business, and pass on the savings to our valued customers. This is just one of the many steps we have taken to ensure that our products are not only of the highest quality, but also produced in an environmentally responsible manner.
Looking Ahead:
Our solar journey is just the beginning. As we continue to explore ways to reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainability, we look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you. The company has already implemented various initiatives to reduce waste, conserve water, and promote eco-friendly practices in its daily operations. Stay tuned for future announcements, and thank you for joining us on this journey towards a greener future. Since installing our solar panels back on November 25th 2022, we have produced 132 MWh of electricity.
In the first 6 months of 2024 we have managed to export 26.5 MWh of green excess energy to the grid.
